Our History
Competitive swimming in Samoa is a relatively new sport, having only officially started in 2003. However, Samoans have a deep cultural relationship with the sea, and swimming and water-based activities have been a part of Samoan life for centuries.

The introduction of competitive swimming to Samoa was influenced by a number of factors, including the rise of the sport in other Pacific island nations, the increasing popularity of swimming as a recreational activity in Samoa, and the efforts of dedicated individuals and organizations.

In the early years, competitive swimming in Samoa was limited to a small number of swimmers and clubs. However, the sport has grown steadily in recent years, and Samoa now has a number of successful competitive swimmers, including several who have represented Samoa at major international competitions.

One of the most significant milestones in the history of competitive swimming in Samoa was the hosting of the 2019 Pacific Games. The Games were a huge success for Samoa, and they helped to raise the profile of competitive swimming in the country.
Today, competitive swimming is a popular sport in Samoa, and there are a number of swim clubs and competitions throughout the country. The Samoan Swimming Association is the governing body for the sport in Samoa, and it is responsible for developing and promoting competitive swimming in the country.

The future of competitive swimming in Samoa is bright. The sport has a strong foundation, and there is a lot of talent and enthusiasm among Samoan swimmers. With continued investment and development, Samoa has the potential to become a major force in competitive swimming in the Pacific region and beyond.
